Hunting in wisconsin the #4 ranked state in the nation

After this year we'll be lucky to be ranked 50th. In 24 years of hunting this is the worst year ever. The DNR really has a problem with counting the deer population after the last ten years or so of killing as many does as we possibly were allowed, believing what the DNR have told us hunters that we have plenty of deer we pretty much have killed the population. What do the animal activists have to say about that? I love hunting but am now pretty much obligated to give up hunting to save it for the future my children and other hunters children. Something we entrusted to the wildlife biologists and they can't even get that right. If anything I believe that the turkey population is out of control if anything we should be allowed to shoot them all. I am a very disappointed hunter. When i first started hunting it was nothing to see sixty deer a day all week long wouldnt that be great. I don't ever think its going to happen again but it would be nice. The lesson here is manage the deer yourself at least then we may always have a deer population. One other thing the DNR need to stop worrying about chronic waisting disease its been around for 50 years first found in elk but out west they didn't go and kill the population of elk also its never spread to a human thru elk or deer so what are they worried about save the deer get rid of the dnr not really but you get the idea. SAFE HUNTING and GOOD LUCK.

Government issues

I'm still pissed of at our government for not looking after the Amercian People. Why? Why you say why, because if they would have looked at the bailout of the banks and car dealerships, they could have given the American taxpayers 100,000 dollars taken taxes out of that so roughly speaking the taxpayer would have gotten about 60,000 to 70,000 thousand dollars, in which some could have retired early creating more job openings, some would have paid their mortgages, some would have bought new vehicles, some might have had children, some might have bought vacation homes or hunting land or who knows what. This would have probably saved the American People billions of dollars along with saving their homes and jobs. What are they doing to us. WE WENT FROM ONE OF THE RICHEST NATIONS IN THE WORLD TO BEING NO BETTER THAN THE POOREST NATION IN THE WORLD, THANKS FOR ALL THE DEBT YOU'VE CREATED WITHOUT THINKING OF THE AMERICAN PEOPLE. ALL CONGRESSMEN AND WOMEN SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF WHAT YOU'VE DONE TO OUR NATION AS A WHOLE. I LOVE THIS COUNTRY HAVE SERVED FOR THIS COUNTRY AND WILL STILL FIGHT FOR THIS COUNTRY BUT OUR GOVERNMENT NEEDS HELP!!!!!! STAND UP AMERICA AND FIGHT BACK. GET THESE GOVERNMENT PEOPLE TO THINK ABOUT OUR NATION.

SORRY IF I'VE OFFENDED ANYBODY BUT THESE ARE MY OPINIONS AND MINE ALONE. AMERICANS HOMELESS, JOBS, RETIREMENT, HEALTH CARE, LETS DO SOMETHING FOR OURSELVES FOR OUR PEOPLE, ONCE WE'VE FIXED OUR PROBLEMS THEN GO BACK TO HELPING OTHER NATIONS, LET'S GET FOCUSED AND ON TRACK TO BECOMING A GREAT NATION ONCE AGAIN.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME!!!!!!!!!!

Early November

I suspect all you hunters are gearing up for the rut. This year in Wisconsin my opinion is the best week for huntin bucks or big bucks will be the end of the first week thru the second week of November you see the moon has a lot to do with it and over this period we will have the new moon along with the full moon and so on. So if your out for big bucks Hunt these first couple of weeks good luck to all. Who knows maybe Ill see your buck on my page. Send them in. Thanks and good luck.

Fishing in october was a bust

Absolutely no luck in October fishing. So now its going on November And its all about hunting. But before I talk about that I got to spend some time in the woods with my oldest son a couple of weeks back and it was great. Wisconsin had its youth hunt and I got to take him out hunting, he shot his first deer nothing spectacular but it was a buck. Way to go Malachi, I'm very proud of him you see he shot it with a muzzleloader. Now he's all excited about hunting and I hope it stays that way. At 10 years old he passed the hunter safety course the week before the youth by himself I might add, otherwise I don't think I would have taken him out hunting. I support our youth and hunting programs, I think its a great benefit to our state and others if they have it. It gives parents and children an opprotunity to learn and spend quality time together so get involved in your kids life before its to late.

My week pan fishing

I had an outstanding week in the pan fishing area. I went to a little honey hole, I used a regualer size 8 hook and a white pegleg(rubber type worm). I fished for about an hour and caught nearly a hundred fish, not all were keepers but it sure is fun catching blue gills, sun fish, crappies and perch, Granted i had to do a lot of weeding out but i did catch enough for a meal. I also released most of them back in the water, but what fun I had it was an awesome couple of days. using my ugly stick and shimano real combo six foot ultra light, gotta love it.

Last week fishing on Lake Gogebic Michigan

Last week my brother in law and father were up fishing lake gogebic for walleyes. My brother in law use to fish in walleye tournaments, but has since given it up for the family. Being a die hard walleye man, going to a lake such as Lake Gogebic is usually an awesome time. Last week it was not, they jigged, they used planer boards they tried casting, anything and everything you could imagine, but could only muster up twenty fish all seven days. This is not a good week in fishing. Better luck next time guys.

Bucks are out there

We have seen many bucks around the area lately. Little bucks, okay bucks, and some monster bucks. We haven't seen as many bucks this year as years before. A little disappointing but that is the way things go sometimes. We just home to see one to shot this hunting season. We have been practicing with the bows so when that big one walks out it won't get away.

hunting for a new bow

While hunting for a new bow dont go after the one with the big name. Last fall i was looking for a new bow, and the best advice I can give any one is shoot as many as you can. I shot Hoyt, High Country, Bear, PSE, Mathews, Browning, Bowtech and even some others. My advice just cause your buddy has one doesn't mean it will fit your needs. After shooting all these write down how it felt to shoot it smoothe, vibrates after release, let off point jerks, list the good and bad then go back and get the one you feel comfortable with. I settled on the PSE dream season. It felt the most comfortable to me. I had a PSE 1000 edge series before this and it lasted me 16 years and never replace any strings but sights and restsi did replace. I only say let the bow make up your mind, not your buddies or your buddies opinion. Good Luck hunting for that bow.

Hunting for Bear

Recently talking to a colleague. He said that they were out trapping bear and showed me pictures of a three hundred and twenty five pounder in central wisconsin. He said that the bear population seems to be up from what he could tell from trapping and collaring bear. He said dont be afraid to shoot collared bear but instead call and give the DNR the information on the collar to help them identify travel patterns. I've been waiting for a tag for eight years now hoping to get the oppotunity to hunt one for the first time so hopefully next year will be my year. Good luck bear hunters in the next months. Also if your baiting and the bear stop coming try something with high protein (Sun flower seeds) good luck.

fishing

Ive been out fishing and its been spectacular. Limiting out every day and enjoying the summer meals of fish Ill be taking a break shortly on fishing and preparing another food plot for deer hunting. I discovered that deer love sesame when its in the green stage and that birds love it when its done and ready to harvest. Well off to work.

Dam Project

It really bursts my bubble that you can have a pond drained for two years, and knowing that your going to fix retaining walls at a later date, why not have contractors come in bid on project or at least get an idea of what they may have to deal with. Why didn't the city of marion take pictures of the retaining walls to show contractors what they were dealing with. My other question is for Lunda Shame on you, Why didn't you put any type of rebar in the wall with the dam in it. especially with a state hwy across it. Thanks for nothing. The people of Marion put hard earned money into restocking their little mill pond, with fish once again to become a popular fishing spot and not only that the Lions Club has lost a lot of support or funds from not being able to hold its annual fishing derby. The money they raise goes for all types of people and projects to help communitites that are in need. Hope this is a learning experience for this and other communities if draining something take pictures of everything and if hiring contractors get these pictures to them. Thanks.

fishing

Last week up in the upper Michigan area of gogebic the fishing was outstanding according to some marion area fishermen. In their own words we slaughtered the walleye and perch. Next week another group will be headed up and Im sure the report should be in on how they did in two weeks. Way to go guys from Marion Wi.

Camping

Camping season is here. Yeah!!! I have found a little trick to help keep the mosquitoes at bay, minced garlic. Wal-Mart has a half quart for under $4 and all you have to do is fling it out into your yard with a fork or spoon where you are going to be or if you are camping. It helps with ants also. It is a cheap way to help not get eaten alive.

hunting

The does are having fawns and bucks growing ever bigger. watch the sides of roads for deer movement at night seeing its awfully hot during the day most likely deer will move in cooler temps at night. Be sure and get your food plots done soon if you havent already, this will give deer time to locate them and make for a successful hunt.

fishing

the water temperature is rising fast due to hot weather. Your best bet is to wait for a cold front or some rain. good luck

fishing

Fishing is picking up in most areas as the water is warming and the pan fish are spawning. Remember if the wind is blowing in a certain bay you may want to try that bay if it doesnt work for you try the opposite bay the fish are there just if they want to bite or not.
